Health service providers advised to use improved technology
Health service providers have been called upon to use technology to enhance their operations.
The Managing Director of the Nyaho Medical Centre, Dr Elikem Tamaklo, made the call and said health professionals needed to do away with paper folders which were vulnerable to human error, and adopt the use of electronic medical records to enable them to have a comprehensive knowledge of patients’ medical history.
Better treatment
“This would enable us to know our patients well and provide them with better treatment, healthcare information and advice,” he stated.
Dr Tamaklo made the remarks at the launch of the centre’s 45th anniversary celebrations and the inauguration of new projects and equipment in Accra last Friday.
They included an expanded Out-Patient’s Department (OPD), integrated Hospital Information System (HIS) and a renovated surgical theatre. The rest were 16-slice CT scan and C-arm radiological machine.
Commendation
The Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Victor Asare Bampoe, who launched the anniversary, said medical practice had assumed new dimension which called for the introduction of modern infrastructure to improve patients’ experience.
He commended the centre for acquiring the HIS system which he said would help patients to access healthcare efficiently.
