The four others in the gang of seven were said to be on the run at the moment and were being sought for by the police.

Distress call

According to the police commander of the Upper West Region, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwasi Mensah Duku, the police received a distress call at about 3a.m. that seven armed men had attacked and robbed the Odo Guest House at Nakore in the Wa Municipality and its staff of five satellite television decoders, mobile phones, assorted drinks and other property.

He said the police patrol team proceeded to the robbery scene immediately and found blood stains and broken glasses on the floor of the reception.

He said witnesses told the police that a broken glass had cut the upper lip of one of the robbers during the operation when he attempted to break into the office of the manager.

He said the police used the information as an important lead, and liaised with hospital authorities around town as they kept men in wait for the appearance of injured persons seeking medical help at the health facilities.

He said Mahazu, Eliasu and Tibe eventually showed up, with Eliasu bearing a deep cut on the face. He said upon their arrest and subsequent search on them, a black bag containing a DSTV decoder, a red jacket, and five remote controls were found on them.
