Webster University Ghana to host premiere career fair

Webster University is an all-inclusive and diverse American institution with a main campus in St. Louis, Missouri, USA and a network of 7 other campuses around the globe in Europe and Asia.

The Ghana Campus, the only one in Africa, offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to earn a quality American degree and study abroad. The private university is hosting its first career fair at its East Legon campus at the end of April, exclusive to its students and alumni seeking internships and entry-level jobs.

A thriving liberal arts school and global institution, Webster University’s mission is to ensure a high-quality learning experience that transforms students for global citizenship and individual excellence. Since the doors of Webster University Ghana were opened in 2014, students from across the world have enrolled each year and benefitted from the well-rounded liberal arts education, cultural diversity and enriching academic environment. Students are well-equipped with the skills-set sought in a 21st-century corporate world.

Employers and corporate partners from over fifteen companies will be exhibiting at the event themed Responding to Careers of the Next Decade, and seeking to place students in various positions across industries. Some of the businesses and organizations that will be present include Delta Airlines, Access Bank, ABSA Bank, the Daily Graphic, Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology, American Chamber of Commerce, mPharma, Zutron Pharmaceuticals and the Ark Consortium – to list a few.

The event is organized by the university’s Success Center at the Office of Academic Affairs that grants all students career preparation and professional development training that include resume writing and review, interviewing and guidance on dressing for success. Dr. Linda Deigh who is the Academic Director, says of this first career fair, “We’re very excited to launch this annual affair and to be able to bring amazing companies with stellar internship and job opportunities to our students. Such professional placements are mutually beneficial, allowing students to gain valuable work experience in the relevant industry before they graduate and offering businesses supportive skills in their busy departments.”

The select companies will have the advantage of showcasing their products and services and exposing a new, young potential consumers to their various vocational pathways. The career fair also provides the opportunity for Webster Ghana students to put in on-the-spot internship and employment applications, as well as interview same-day for positions companies are eager to fill. Webster Ghana offers degree programs in International Relations, Management, Computer Science, Media Studies, Psychology, Human Resources and Business Administration, and students are interested in working in these areas and beyond.
