Unilever Ghana Ltd has re-launched its Geisha family soap which has been reformulated with honey and natural extracts to provide more value to the consumer.

The new Geisha has been reformulated to make it harder to enable it last longer as a suitable choice for small and large families.

In an interview with the Graphic  Business at the re-launch, the Category Manager for Personal Care, Ms Esther Fobri, said the customer was at the centre of the reformulated product which had remained a household name for a long time, and added that the needs of their customers had been prioritised in the redevelopment of the product.

“We conduct research in every market we serve. We conduct research both in respect of the needs of our customers and also on the various ingredients that can be used to meet these needs”.

The new Geisha

Ms Fobri explained that Geisha, which was still affordable and suitable for the entire family, came in five variants, namely  Green-aloe Vera and honey, Beige-Shea butter and honey, White-coconut and honey, Pink-rose and honey and Yellow-Lemon and honey.

“The savings that come with the longer lasting quality will mean that scarce financial resources of families become available for other pressing needs,” she added.

The Brand Building Director of Unilever Ghana, Ms Nana Yaa Kissi, stressed that Unilever’s creative team did not only aim to generate products that made people look and feel good, but also helped them to get more out of the products.

“We asked our customers what they wanted out of Geisha and they told us. The new Geisha was, therefore, borne out of our collaborative effort and a long lasting relationship with our customers,’’ she said.

The Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Mrs Dela Sowah, who was the special guest, commended Unilever for the innovative approach to meet the basic needs of Ghanaians and encouraged a sustained partnership between the company and the country for development.

“I have no doubt that the new Geisha will meet the needs of Ghanaian consumers and also stimulate more of such innovations from Unilever in the coming years. There is nothing better than a long lasting mutually beneficial relationship,’’ she said.
